avvy Posted 22 February , 2015 Share Posted 22 February , 2015 Does anyone have any information on the hospital ship Goorka? My father was on board her when she was torpedoed I believe all crew and passengers were saved TIA Avvy

johnboy Posted 23 February , 2015 Share Posted 23 February , 2015 HMHS Goorkha mined in 1917.This Hospital ship when off Malta on the 10th. of October in 1917 ran into a mine, the 372 survivors which included 17 Nursing Sisters soon cleared the ship without any casualties, and the ship under tow made it into the Harbour at Malta. pagius Posted 3 March , 2019 Share Posted 3 March , 2019 3 photos in my cousin Nurse Mary Muscat's WW1 album show privates leaving Cottonera Hospital to board the Goorka, Annotating the photos after the war she got the date slightly wrong - should be 10th Oct 1917 not 17th. On page 8 of the album... http://agiusww1.com/mary-muscat-2/
