Guest coops65 Posted 7 February , 2015 Share Posted 7 February , 2015 Have an old (and poor quality) family photo, taken in 1915, showing a group of German officers and soldiers behind a sign which translates as "1915 Erinnerung A memento of our military service 6 Korps XI/28" Is anyone able to give me a clue as to the identity of this unit? Guy A photograph will help - when you can put one up! Generally, Roman numerals were used to designate an Armee Korps, 'Arabic' for other units, etc.
AOK4 Posted 7 February , 2015 Share Posted 7 February , 2015 I would say 6. Korporalschaft of 11th Company of (some) Regiment 28. Without scans, it's impossible to say more.
trajan Posted 7 February , 2015 Share Posted 7 February , 2015 Oh well done! That sounds like it fits the bill! Trajan
Ron Clifton Posted 7 February , 2015 Share Posted 7 February , 2015 An alternative might be the 6th Komp (Company) of the 28th Landsturm Battalion of Army Corps District XI. I don't think the Germans used Roman numerals for companies though they did for battalions. Ron
