I am looking for details from the battalion diary of the 1st Bn Black Watch between 11 January 1915 and 17 February 1915.

I am researching a soldier, 3070 Private Andrew Dall, whose dead body was found and buried at Cuinchy on 17 February 1915. His presumptive date of death is given as 17 February 1915. His grave must have been subsequently lost as he is now commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial.

Any information would be really helpful.

Most likely he was killed 25th or 26th December 1914. 48 other ranks killed, 150 wounded, 7 missing. Don't think they were in action again before 17th February.

Thanks Mike, sorry, I should have mentioned that his Medal Index card indicates that he first landed in France on 12 January 1915.

His family contacted the War Office as they hadnt heard from him and were initially told that he had been killed in late January or early February 1915.
