Tank Posted 28 January , 2015 Share Posted 28 January , 2015 I don't know if it's just the records I'm looking at but a number of local men who served with the Machine Gun Corps seemed to be sent to Italy in 1918 and/or then stationed in Germany after the armistice. Has anyone else noticed a similar trend or if someone who has researched the MGC knows if that was the case or it might just be the records I've come across. Cheers

JulianB Posted 28 January , 2015 Share Posted 28 January , 2015 I can certainly tell you about MGC Companies 122, 123, 124 and 199 as they were all in 41st Div. This division went to Italy in November 1917 and came back to the WF in March 1918. They also formed part of the 'army of occupation' in Germany at the end of the war. The other divisions in Italy were the 5th, 7th, 23rd and 48th but I don't know much about them. I suspect it's not difficult to find out.
