abbrover Posted 12 January , 2015 Share Posted 12 January , 2015 Royal Engineers, original number 339880 later WR/204184, medal roll notes this is railways. I've looked at all the entries on his page in the medal rolls and the numbers all run consecutively as do the new WR numbers they were given. would this suggest that he had been part of a RE railway group all along and was given a new WR number in early 1918 when they were introduced? Is there anyway of telling from his number when he went overseas? I've looked at all similar numbers to his for service papers but no joy, they all appear to have been lost. He was born in 1897 in Warrington and received BWM and VM and was a Joiner by trade
