Chris_Baker Posted 8 November , 2002 Share Posted 8 November , 2002 I'm really calling any Guards or particularly Scots Guards fanatics out there. I'm doing a bit of a study of the life of RSM Joseph Barwick MC, for his grandson. He was quite a man, and spent a period as RSM of the Guards Depot, Caterham, during the Great War. You could argue that this is the most senior NCO role in the entire army. We are well down the track of collecting his service papers, with the assistance of the Regiment. If anyone has anything that mentions Barwick, or - please! - any photographs, do please get in touch. Your assistance would be invaluable.
Kevin Lynott Posted 8 November , 2002 Share Posted 8 November , 2002 Chris, Have you seen the two pictures of RSM Barwick in the book On The Word of Command by Richard Alford? one is a group of RSMs of the Guards Brigade in 1919 and the second is of King George V talking to Barwick in 1921. Both pictures are credited to the Guards Magazine. Thank you. That's great info.
