juno-44 Posted 3 January , 2015 Share Posted 3 January , 2015 Hi, I pick up this helve carrier which look to me to be a W.W.1 original. It came attached to a P08 frog and bayonet. Opinions are more than welcome. Happy New Year to all, Michel
John Thorne Posted 3 January , 2015 Share Posted 3 January , 2015 It's impossible to make a definitive judgement from photographs, but it looks right to me. It is assembled correctly, unlike most of the copies I've seen, which have definite errors in fabrication.
Dave1418 Posted 3 January , 2015 Share Posted 3 January , 2015 Hi Michel looks fine to me the rivets all look to have the correct age for the items as does the stitching regards DaveS
mark holden Posted 3 January , 2015 Share Posted 3 January , 2015 Personally I think this is a good one it has wear in the right places and as John said its stitched correctly. You have done well. regards Mark
high wood Posted 3 January , 2015 Share Posted 3 January , 2015 Does the 2SSR represent the 2nd Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment?
Grovetown Posted 4 January , 2015 Share Posted 4 January , 2015 This comes from a batch (of good ones) that turned up a few years ago. I have seen them sold as South Staffs, but they actually came from Canada and are marked to the South Saskatchewan Regiment. Most have 1920s re-issue markings on them too. Cheers, GT.
