stan Posted 3 November , 2004 Share Posted 3 November , 2004 A question has arisen on one of the other forums re the rib tapes of the Albatross DVa. The Australian War Memorial and Smithonian aircraft both have purple wing rib tapes. Is this accurate? Or would they have used left over printed fabric? If not why purple and was it actualy purple fabric or just doped that colour?
Guest Dan-San Abbott Posted 17 November , 2004 Share Posted 17 November , 2004 Stan: The Albatros Werke used salmon pink tape on Alb.D.V/D.Va rib tapes. To my knowledge, I do not know of any other German aircraft builder that used pink tapes of any shade for rib tapes. Blue skies, Dan-San
Guest Pete Wood Posted 17 November , 2004 Share Posted 17 November , 2004 Dan A very warm welcome to the forum. I hope we can entice you back again and again... and again. Warm regards Pete Note to the forum: Dan-San Abbott is a legend. What he doesn't know about WW1 aviation can be written on a postage stamp - and even that info would be merely something he has forgotten.
