Hi to all and Best Wishes for 2015

I have been researching a soldier named on the Brithdir War Memorial (Rhymney Valley, Glamorgan) but sadly failed to find his service records. There are no casualties on CWGC named B Evans. I wonder if someone could check the following soldier, Pte Benjamin Evans 4496/22689, on SDGW. I'm clutching at straws and hoping for any clue that would link him to Brithdir.

Regards Roy

No Pte. Benjamin Evans 4496/22689 on S.D.G.W. but there are the following:-

Benjamin Philip Evans Pte 31508 1/4th Bn. K.S.L.I. kia 23.3.1918 born Merthyr, Glam., residence Georgetown, Merthyr, enlisted Merthyr

Benjamin Evans Pte 1782 2nd Bn. Welsh R. dow 15.2.1915 born Abercarn, Mon., residence Maesteg, Glam., enlisted Cardiff

Benjamin Evans Pte 1348 1st Bn. Welsh Guards kia 27.9.1915 born Carmarthen, enlisted Cardiff

Benjamin Evans Gnr. W/5224 R.F.A. dow 23.7.1916 residence Treelaw, Glam. (should read Trealaw), enlisted Tonypandy, Glam.

Benjamin Evans Sgt. 20115 15th Bn. Welsh R. kia 11.7.1916 born Lampeter enlisted Llanelly (sic)

These are the only ones in S.D.G.W named Benjamin Evans with South Wales connections, all died in France and Flanders

Hello Harry

Many thanks for the details, I really am clutching at straws; trawled through old newspapers but no luck. Even relatives searching him are just as frustrated for the lack of information.

Regards, Roy
