battiscombe Posted 31 December , 2014 Share Posted 31 December , 2014 a note in a service record: Gunner C Baker [5th Battery, 45th Brigade RFA] is recorded as being awarded '7 days F.P No.2 for "attempting to leave the trenches with a view to visiting the enemy trenches"' .. apparently when in a working party assisting the infantry on improving communication trenches.. one of his officers [Wedderburn-Maxwell] was known to have met German troops on Boxing Day during the 'truce'.. charlesmessenger Posted 1 January , 2015 Share Posted 1 January , 2015 Interestingly, according to Wedderburn-Maxwell his battery was in action on Christmas Day. His privately printed memoir does confirm that he did have a chat to a group of Saxons in No Mans Land on Boxing Day. Charles M
