Can any member tell me where the 5th Bn. N/Derby were when 1440 Pte. Frank Hitchcock 5th Bn. Notts and Derby was killed in action on the 25th May 1915. Were they at Kemmel,? he is buried in Loker Churchyard. Thanks JG

John,

the war diary states 22/24 in trenches (Rossignol) which was in Kemmel sector. Interestingly it also records no casualties during this period. 25th May is shown as back to bivouacs. 5th Bn War History has him listed as killed 25/5/15. Could he have died of wounds?

regards

Mark

Did he die of wounds? - yes he died of wounds on 25th according to my SDGW N&D book.
