Perth Digger Posted 21 December , 2014 Share Posted 21 December , 2014 In his history of the 11th (Lewisham) Battalion, RWK Regiment, Capt R.O. Russell mentioned that a film was taken of the Battalion's largest recruitment procession held on 11 September 1915. This film was shown in local cinemas. Does anyone know if a copy of this film still exists? Thanks Mike

Perth Digger Posted 21 December , 2014 Author Share Posted 21 December , 2014 JP You may very well have found it, JP, or at least part of it. The 11th Battalion's mascot was a Borzoi, but Russell's work does not mention the link to the Czar. On the other hand, that does look like a cricket pavilion in the background and the 11th's HQ was at the Private Banks' Sports Ground in Catford. Thanks very much. Phil Evans Posted 7 January , 2015 Share Posted 7 January , 2015 That does look like the old cricket pavilion that is at the bottom of what is now the Powerleague playing field. The railway line in the background is right. There is still a pavilion in the same place, but I did an overlay a few years back from an old map onto Google Earth and the foot print has changed a fair bit. I can't find anything with a front view, but this picture (1876) may help. Phil
