I put the case for Wilfred Brooke forward to the CWGC in September 2013 and its nice to see he will get a headstone. One more hurdle with the local registrar and it should be all go. It appears, after checking the records at the AMS museum, that Wilfred Brooke was the most decorated soldier of the RAMC during the Great War and I will be arranging an official unveiling when I get notification it's being placed. I'm trying to find surviving family and even contacted people using ancestry family trees but have drawn a blank.

(Liverpool)’ ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the retreats in March, April and May and during the recent fighting on the Somme. As N.C.O. in charge of bearers he has in every action shown the most tireless devotion to duty and marked gallantry. He has constantly led his bearer squads through machine gun and artillery fire, and his disregard of danger has been an example to all the unit’.
