Guest Jordanleeds Posted 8 December , 2014 Share Posted 8 December , 2014 I Hope this is the right place to post this, The lms Patriot project is currently building the Royal British legion Endorsed National memorial Locomotive with the aim of it being complete in September 2017 for testing and then launched officially on 11th November 2018, this memorial is to commemorate all who have given their lives in all conflicts known and unknown, This is a 1.5 million pound project funded almost entirely by the donations received from the general public and some small corporate sponsorship. the engineering behind the project is 100% British and the locomotive being built by british craftsmen in Llangollen North wales we envisage taking the engine once complete around the british isles for all to see More information can be found on http://www.lms-patriot.org.uk
PhilB Posted 9 December , 2014 Share Posted 9 December , 2014 The unrebuilt Patriot - surely the least impressive of all the LMS namers of the Golden Years? Beautiful in rebuilt form though! As they were originally built 1930-1934, not a great WW1 connection apart from the names of course. The Royal Scot class of 1927 probably had more WW1 names? However, any new steam loco is to be welcomed!
