East Lancs House, Plugstreet

In the war diary for the 1/5 London Rifle Brigade, there is an excellent map showing the position of the battalion in February 1915. I am trying to use a modern map overlay but it is not easy. The only definite point mentioned on the map is East Lancs House which appears to be north of the River Warnave and east of Le Gheer. I cannot find East Lancs House on any trench map. I am hoping that someone will know where it was or be able to place it close to somewhere which is on a trench map.

Many thanks

Bob

Hi Bob, this may help you out a bit, the house is situated West of La Gheer along the road bordering the wood, Ploegsteert Rd/St.?

For anyone who might be interested, I enlisted the help of Claude at L'Auberge restaurant. Using his local knowledge and other maps he had, the mystery has been solved. While the building was known as East Lancs House early in January 1915, at some later stage it's name was changed to Warnave Lodge which is on all the later trench maps.

Thanks to anyone who might have tried to pinpoint East Lancs House.

Bob
