egbert Posted 2 December , 2014 Share Posted 2 December , 2014 Does anybody has information/photos of a - what I was told - limited poppy edition that comes in a box and the blossom center is made out of actual WW1 shell cone brass material from the battlefields? tonelessfuture Posted 2 December , 2014 Share Posted 2 December , 2014 Hi Egbert, Are you refering to the lapel pin poppies? If so they were being sold by the british legion on their website but are unfortunately all sold out now. Not sure if they were sold anywhere else. http://www.poppyshop.org.uk/flanders-fields-1914-1918-centenary-lapel-pin.html Thanks, David
gem22 Posted 2 December , 2014 Share Posted 2 December , 2014 I think that what you are referring to is the tie pin/ lapel pin and cufflinks made from the brass fuses of Great War shells. The design is a poppy but not the usual small poppy design used by TRBL. The items are available from http://www.poppyshop.org.uk/world-wars/world-war-1.html Garth
egbert Posted 2 December , 2014 Author Share Posted 2 December , 2014 Thanks to both of you! Now I understand the present I received from a participant of a Remembrance Day ceremony. He was so overwhelmed by my speech in a theatre with some 6-800 Brits attending that he passed his poppy pin to me as a token of appreciation. The box he promised will be sent by mail. I will honor this gift even more, now that I understand its Story.

egbert Posted 11 December , 2014 Author Share Posted 11 December , 2014 Today I received via mail the corresponding box. The gift was given to me from Phil, one of the some 600 British attendees in recognition of my Remembrance Day speech. By now I understand the value and meaning of the pin (thanks to the contributors here from GWF) for which I am so grateful and I'd like to share some pictures of my first 2014 Christmas present. egbert Posted 11 December , 2014 Author Share Posted 11 December , 2014 Luckily the pin and the box are now re-united and will have a special place in my heart and on a display shelve here. Thanks Phil G. from Oxfordshire for a wonderful gesture!
