This soldier apparently died in a field hospital at LAPPWIR Germany according to the probate entry of 1919, but this place doesn't seem to exist and the odd thing is as well he is commemorated on the Sissone Memorial France. Can any pal shed any light on this seemingly strange oddity. Ralph.

Here are his details on the ICRC site (International Commitee of the Red Cross). Drop down to the Holt Lancashire Fusiliers (16) tab and scroll down to Holt, Herbert.

The PA 29845 & 37158 numbers refer to the original German report - you can access these by going to the Examples of Index Cards link and then to the Cards of a British Serviceman link.
