WhiteWolf Posted 17 November , 2014 Share Posted 17 November , 2014 Hi Everybody I'm trying to find SWMBO's Granddad In the Medal Roll and MIC. We have his Service Papers and the lead-in page on Ancestry has his Regiment as "RO Woolwich" (The Royal Engineers info was on the front page of his service papers) Service number WR340655, but within his service papers there is another service number (we think) of 332018 He enlisted on 27/11/1915 in Liverpool and was transferred to Class Z on 12/03/1919 Would he have been issued medals if he didn't serve overseas? johnboy Posted 17 November , 2014 Share Posted 17 November , 2014 If he did not serve overseas he was awarded no medals. Does he have a MIC?

johnboy Posted 17 November , 2014 Share Posted 17 November , 2014 Are his service records on Ancestry?
WhiteWolf Posted 17 November , 2014 Author Share Posted 17 November , 2014 Are his service records on Ancestry? Hi John Yes we have these. The 1st page has RFA on the top, but this is crossed through and replaced with RO Woolwich. He was also classed as "B1" I'm guessing this is his fitness. I've been through them and can't see any info regarding any overseas posting. Andy Andy
clk Posted 17 November , 2014 Share Posted 17 November , 2014 Looks like he was renumbered to me, and served with Inland Waterways and Docks RE - didn't go to an active theatre, and hence no Victory/British War medal entitlement Regards Chris

johnboy Posted 17 November , 2014 Share Posted 17 November , 2014 His service record should show postings. You could then try looking for those units and where they were.
