richards13 Posted 16 November , 2014 Share Posted 16 November , 2014 Hello all, I am attempting to research 31604 Pte Morgan Rees Jones, 1st Bn East Lancashire Regiment whose MM was documented in the London Gazette 13th March 1919. The Gazette indicates he was from Gorseinon near Swansea. The strong suggestion is that the award involved his participation in the Battle of Amiens between August and September 1918. If anyone has any clues that will help me progress the research I would be very grateful. Many thanks.
sotonmate Posted 16 November , 2014 Share Posted 16 November , 2014 If you download the unit War Diary you can read through it and see if his MM recommendation/award/citation is present there, there are no MM records surviving from the 1940 bombing but you might just be fortunate: http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7355345 and covers from Mar 1918 to May 1919.
