Pte William Simon Stephens

Recommended Posts

Hello again all,

This is the paternal great, grandfather of my young grandsons. He and his family lived in Cornwall. I am trying to teach my grandsons about WW1 and the oldest one (a teenager) is showing a great interest. William Stephens joined the Army Service Corps on 19 December 1914 (Reg. No. 1699). In August 1917 he was transferred to the Royal Irish Rifles (Reg. No. 47142).

We know that William was reported missing on 24 March 1918 and, in June 1918, was found to be a POW in Germany. I have trawled through the Red Cross records but cannot find him in their POW records. Can anyone help please?

Kind regards, Richard

Many thanks Graeme! Don't suppose you can advise how to find out which POW Camp he was in? I'm unsure what the three letters at the tope of the page say and what RAP meant?

Kind regards, Richard
