Two Medal Cards Very Different

Recommended Posts

Hopefully you will see two medal cards for an uncle and nephew killed on the same day at Gallipoli .

Can someone please explain why there is such a difference in the cards when both men were in the same battalion and neither have any known grave.

The only major difference is that Donnelly's medals were returned by his next of kin for some sort of amendment, the key information such as theatre entered and date of entry appear identical. They are both 1914-15 Star cards, the medals are issued off the same regimental rolls, a few pages apart (as one would expect given the difference in their regimental numbers).
