WilliamRev Posted 10 November , 2014 Share Posted 10 November , 2014 I bought this postcard, on the famous auction site, ages ago (because of the cat ) but hadn't really looked at it until I stumbled across it today. Can anyone make out the details of the inscription? I think that I can see "O.C. Nick, & his pal Pde. [?] Sgt. A. Burrows, Sgt. Page.." but nothing much after that. Have I got the right end of the stick that "Nick" is the cat, and is the Officer Commanding? Also, I can see that the men are Fusiliers of some kind, but any more details, plus suggestions as to the date of the image (just after the war? The chap seated left has a wound stripe) would be very welcome. William

IPT Posted 10 November , 2014 Share Posted 10 November , 2014 Is it Pro. Sgt A Burrows? The date may be 24/10/16, but that's some sloppy chalk work there. Is the soldier on the right wearing a mourning button?
Roger Thompson Posted 10 November , 2014 Share Posted 10 November , 2014 If the bugler was turned a bit more he is wearing shoulder titles. Cheers Roger.
WilliamRev Posted 11 November , 2014 Author Share Posted 11 November , 2014 Many thanks for the suggestions so far - that really is the very clearest that I can get the image. Are they Grenadiers Guards, or was I right with a fusilier regiment? Any more ideas about any aspect of the card would be gratefully received. William Later thought: is the colour of the buglar's bugle-cords a clue?
IPT Posted 11 November , 2014 Share Posted 11 November , 2014 Is the man second from the left wearing glasses? It could be a clue, but the forum ww1 spectacles threads are too complicated for me. ,
