Remembered Today:

German Postcard Artist

Can any one remind me of the name of the German artist who drew the colour artworks of German soldiers in various uniforms advertising a brand of biscuits. Very subtly each soldier was pictured holding a pack of these eatables?

Hi David

I used to collect German propaganda cards before my Zeppelin obsession kicked in. I have examples of Leibniz Keks p/cs from two artists. The cards were Feldpostkarte published by the H Bahlsens Keksfabrik Hannover. One of the artists is Walter Georgi (1871-1924) and the other is Josse Goossens. I have an example by Anne Koken, but this was not published by Bahlsens.

According to German wikipedia, 64 cards were issued - Ferdinand Spiegel (3), Walter Georgi (25), Josse Goossens (16), Ludwig Hohlwein (9) Carl Otto Czeschka (6) and Julian Diez (2).

I now fancy a biscuit!!

Best

David
