JWK Posted 7 November , 2014 Share Posted 7 November , 2014 (edited) http://www.focustv.be/nieuws/massagraf-met-zeven-duitse-soldaten-gevonden-bikschote Last wednesday 5th november the remains of 7 German soldiers, dating from 1914/1915 (Some were still wearing their Pickelhaubes), were uncovered during diggingworks for a new gas-pipeline, near Bikschote/Langemark-Poelkapelle. According to the archeologists it has all the marks of a hasty burial. They found some buttons and regiment-numbers, but identification will probably be impossible as no indentity-tags have been found. trajan Posted 7 November , 2014 Share Posted 7 November , 2014 If they have the regiment number and they all from one regiment, wouldn't there be a clue in the war diary of that regiment? Seven quick burials are the sort of thing a war diary would note.
Seadog Posted 7 November , 2014 Share Posted 7 November , 2014 Another sad find now at least they will rest in a war cemetery. It would be good if any can be identified. Norman PS What really p****s me off are the adverts before the video and this also applies to UK newspapers, how disrespectful is that!
JWK Posted 7 November , 2014 Author Share Posted 7 November , 2014 ^ Well, they were only discovered 2 days ago, and it was a journalist who wrote that piece..... I'm sure some more in-depth reporting, by someone who knows what he is talking about, will alight over the next few weeks.
