Private J Blissill died of wounds in Ireland 27 April 1916

Hi,

I do not seem to be able find any information on this man.

Private J Blissill died of wounds in Ireland 27 April 1916. From the Notingham Evening Post 27 April 1920.

He is buried in the same grave as Second Lieutenant Montague Bernard Browne 2nd/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nott’s and Derby Regiment). They were both killed in the battle of Mount Street Bridge.

This is a picture of his headstone, Browne’s inscription in on the front of the cross pedestal and Blissett’s is on the right side of the pedestal. According to the inscription he was 23 years old when he died. The link below is for a description of the Battle of Mount Street Bridge.
