I bought an MM trio to 5781 Cpl W H QUILLIAM A BATTERY 87/BDE RFA, 19th Division, and was acting as a signaller.

He was gazetted 11th November 1916, so I believe it was for an action in October, possibly the Battle of Ancre Heights .

Can anyone help me get a copy of the war diary for that period?

I'll be happy to reimburse costs etc.

regards

Baz

Got a copy of the diary, sadly can't find any mention of his MM being awarded, but he was listed in May 1916 in the nominal role stating that he was in England in hospital and " not being struck off charge".

Now it begs the question, why was he in hospital and was it connected to his MM award?
