Only a couple of comparisons seen:

3919 " " 29 May 1916.

Maybe they weren't in a strict date sequence.

interestingly there is another George Kemmett from Gloucester.

20th Feb 1889 4227 Gloucester Regt. age 17 and 6months

enlisted into Gloster Regt 15th July 1899. maybe same one?

Hi Julie,

Probably not a lot of use? but the only man who I have come across in my researching is one Joseph Herbert Wright who attested for the R.G.H.Y. on 12/9/14 with the service number 2310. He was a Science Master in a school at Cinderford, Gloucestershire when he enlisted, he was subsequently commissioned into the 8th Bn Gloucester Regiment on 16/11/14 and proceeded to France with his battalion on 18/7/15.

He was wounded 3/7/16 and also during the summer of 1917, he was also awarded the Military Cross L.G. 1/1/17. As a Captain he was killed in action during the March offensive on 25th March,1918, age 33, and he is commemorated by name on the Arras Memorial.

Hope this is of use,

Robert

Just stumbled across this post by accident. I have two George Kemmetts in my family. One of them was in the 12th Gloucesters during WWI and was first cousin to my great great grandmother Mabel Barsellotti (nee Kemmett). Mabel also had a younger brother named George, looking at the 1911 census, who I highly doubt served in WWI. Could you perhaps be referring to either of these two?
