IPT Posted 23 October , 2014 Share Posted 23 October , 2014 I've trawled through his Australian papers and can't find find any mention, even though the correspondence goes up to 1937 - http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/scripts/Imagine.asp I also can't find anything under his Fusilier number of 133038. If he was 87008 Merchant Navy, there's also no mention of the award on cwgc.

Wesley Wright Posted 23 October , 2014 Author Share Posted 23 October , 2014 I have a potted history completed some years ago that states he won the DCM whilst serving with Royal Fusiliers in Russia-quoting an Major General Ironside that the award was conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Assisted his platoon commander in the capture of 3 villages. I have searched his Australan records . Wesley Wright
IPT Posted 23 October , 2014 Share Posted 23 October , 2014 The Australian papers give his number as 133038. He appears as Wilfred, under 133038 - http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D4916766 There's some information about Wilfred's service in Russia here - http://alh-research.tripod.com/Light_Horse/index.blog/1904731/north-russian-campaign-61464-private-wilfred-john-robinson/ which throws up the number 133001. This then throws up these 2 MICs, which link 1006 and 13001 - http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_q=133001+robinson
