Question:  Would you want photos of family graves in the UK which commemorate WW1 Australian service personnel who have war graves overseas?  I came across one recently.

Clive

Hi Beth - have sent you photo re Private Frederick Torson 521A, Bennochy Cemetery, Kirkcaldy

Hello,

I am looking for a photo of Private Frederick Torson for a booklet to commemorate lost soldiers from our region. Frederick Torson worked at Thornborough then enlisted in Cairns QLD, Australia. At this stage, we have been unable to obtain a photo.

Sincerely,

After a minimum number of posts (and I can't remember if it's 1,3,5, 10 ?) you could send her a message with your request.

You do that by clicking on her avatar , then the email icon.Or she might just suddenly turn up...

Welcome, Peta

Beth hasn't visited us since April 28. I've sent her a private message on your behalf that she may or may not pick up.

Opens OK for me, both from the link that Beth that sent me and from my copy & paste in post 234.

I've opened it again. It's a six-page file with a 2016 copyright notice, so I can't make its contents more readily available.

I logged out and tried the link and see what you mean. Perhaps it's something to do with my receiving it in a private message. I'll ask Beth to post it in this thread.

HI Ellis1918,

I discovered your post from 10 years ago!. I'm writing a history of the 52nd Bn AIF based on the men's letters and diaries and photos. Do you have material from Frank that you can share?. Cheers

Welcome to the forum John. I’ve removed your email address from your post, it’s never a great idea to put personal details on a public forum. @Ellis1918 hasn’t been on the forum since February 2023, but my tag may alert them to your post.

Not sure if you have this one, buried in Sighthill Cemetery, Glasgow. He was from the city and was staying with his parents prior to being pensioned out.

He was on a night out with 2 mates from Glasgow when they met a never identified Australian Soldier, his mates left them and never saw him alive again, his body was later pulled from the River, money, watch etc still on him.

I'll tag @sandybee49 to bring these names to her attention.
She may have them on file already, but I'm sure she would prefer duplication rather than omissions.
She hasn't been on the forum sice June 2023, but hopefully this will alert her.
