Unfortunately the 1914 list omits the name of Pte Abraham Acton, 2nd Battalion, Border Regiment (the great-uncle of forum Pal 59165), who won his VC for the same action as Pte James Smith on 21 December at Rouges-Bancs, Fromelles. Pte Acton is correctly named in the Gazette entry to which the link for Pte Smith leads, but whoever compiled the chronological listing has missed the fact that the two men share the same citation.
