Could any of my forum pals help me out. I'm looking for the German strong point Saxon Fort, does anyone know it's location?

Many thanks in advance

Sachsenfeste was in Rondell Wald (Oosttaverne Wood to the British).... just to the south west of the circular feature in that wood.

Here're some trench-map extracts from February through to May 1917 showing the location as described above....

However.....

this trench sketch extract from IR 179's occupation dating from 1916 shows the position to be a totally different location in the same wood. Not sure which location to believe, but, going off the sheer amount of detail contained on the complete version of this particular map, I'd lean more to this being the accurate version (though, of course, I suppose names could have changed over the year!)...

What's that? A dugout? A lou?

It's an entrance to a bunker, with perhaps a dug out below?

This picture shows the Sachsenfeste shortly before 7 June 1917.
