I am not related to his family but decided to do some private research on him as did so much and got so much..

So if anyone has information pls send it along .

He was in the 1/ 5th battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers and killed by sniper on 12 august 1915.

I have a lot of material already but diaries or photos of him etc would be great.

At the moment I stuck with this burning questions..Does anyone have dates when Major Bernard Head arrived in NZ after getting back from Samoa then what place did he embark from in new Zealand and name of ship he was on and dates and when did arrive if he arrived in Egypt or did go directly to uk and what and if any dates in April in 1915 when he arrived in uk and rejoined his battalion..

More questions later.

Theres a photo in Illustrated London News 11/9/15 on FindmyPast here

It can also be seen on his profile in Lives of the First World War

There are a number of references in the 1915 newspapers, referring to his South African experience QSA 3 clasps, MiD, 2VB Kings Shropshire Light Infantry.

1904 appointed estate Agent to Lord Harlech.

His service file is at Kew under WO 374/32225
