Mark Hone Posted 13 August , 2014 Share Posted 13 August , 2014 I have just got hold of a beautifully-produced education pack for schools produced by the British Council in association with the FA, Football League and Premier League in connection with the national week of football remembrance planned for December. Although focussing on the Christmas Truce it goes far beyond this, having sections, for example, on prominent footballers who fought and the different fates of the members of a Lancashire village team. Prima facie it seems to have been carefully researched using lots of primary material. It even acknowledges that there is still a debate over whether games of football were played during the Truce, although evidence is provided, notably in the diary entries of a German soldier. Fattyowls Posted 13 August , 2014 Share Posted 13 August , 2014 Mark, thanks for posting this. I am likely to be putting together some stuff for education to tie in with the various anniveraries; is the pack available to members of the public or is is only schools? Pete. Mark Hone Posted 13 August , 2014 Author Share Posted 13 August , 2014 I don't know. It came via my Headmaster but I notice that the accompanying competition had a closing date in June!
