SRD Posted 4 August , 2014 Share Posted 4 August , 2014 I have the CWGC record for Charles Morris Woollven of the Royal Sussex Regiment 4th Bn and information from Horsted Keynes War Memorial which show his Rank as Corporal and his Regtl.No. as TF/200398 however his MIC shows him as a Private and his No. as 4/2012 Can anyone shed light on the discrepancy please? sotonmate Posted 4 August , 2014 Share Posted 4 August , 2014 His 4 Battalion TA number was re-numbered in 1917 to the series 200001-240000 which was specifically allocated to 4 Battalion.
SRD Posted 5 August , 2014 Author Share Posted 5 August , 2014 Thanks, does the TA (TF) number mean he was in the Territorials before the war? And any idea on the rank discrepancy?
Medaler Posted 5 August , 2014 Share Posted 5 August , 2014 His service number - 4/2012 - indicates enlistment after the war had started. http://armyservicenumbers.blogspot.co.uk/2009/05/royal-sussex-regiment-4th-battalion.html Regards, Mike
