jpss Posted 25 July , 2014 Share Posted 25 July , 2014 Dear All, Does somebody know the unit of this soldier present in Yper salient, probably from Canada? Thank you in advance, jean-pierre
John Beech Posted 25 July , 2014 Share Posted 25 July , 2014 Hi Jean-pierre Cap badge looks like crossed machine guns of Machine Gun Corps. Collar badge looks like Canadian mapleleaf so probably Canadian MGC Regards John
T8HANTS Posted 25 July , 2014 Share Posted 25 July , 2014 Cap badge looks like Machine Gun Corps, for it to be the MGC of Canada I think there should be a scroll under the crossed machine guns.

auchonvillerssomme Posted 26 July , 2014 Share Posted 26 July , 2014 The gun, I'm sure someone will correct or add is a German 8.8cm Flak 17.
Old Owl Posted 26 July , 2014 Share Posted 26 July , 2014 I think both the cap badge and collar badge are MGC, therefore there may be no connection with the Canadian Forces. Of course he could be a Canadian serving in the British Army? I assume the photos shows captured German artillery pieces--possibly post war?
