MrG Posted 23 July , 2014 Share Posted 23 July , 2014 I have got a bit stuck on a local man whom the AVL claims served as Cpl 26919 with the 14th Worcester Regiment. He is Richard William Robinson b Itchingfield, Sussex 1882 but I can find no-one that comes near in the MICs, SWB Rolls or the service records on Ancestry and FMP Any ideas? Promenade Posted 23 July , 2014 Share Posted 23 July , 2014 Hi, This man who was killed with 10 Worcs appears to have No 26919. CUZICK, Corporal, ALBERT EDWARD, 26919. 10th Bn. MrG Posted 23 July , 2014 Author Share Posted 23 July , 2014 I'm guessing we have a mis-transcription in the AVL of my mans number then Thanks
Langdon Posted 23 July , 2014 Share Posted 23 July , 2014 There is a Richard Robinson of the Worcesters but no service records that I can see, a Private, DoW and a number 11195 that isn't close... Can't see anyone else.. MIC Mike
MrG Posted 24 July , 2014 Author Share Posted 24 July , 2014 Maybe its the regiment that is the mis-transcription? btw he survived the war
Langdon Posted 24 July , 2014 Share Posted 24 July , 2014 (edited) I did wonder why someone born and raised in Itchingfield (and possibly living in Croydon in 1911) would join the Worcesters... Could this be him? MIC Richard Robinson Royal Fusiliers 26919 - then Labour Corps Mike Edited 24 July , 2014 by Langdon
MrG Posted 24 July , 2014 Author Share Posted 24 July , 2014 I had spotted him before and discounted him as it seemed so different regarding the regiment ...... but I now wonder if he might have been one of those "attached to" chappies?
Langdon Posted 24 July , 2014 Share Posted 24 July , 2014 I think the name/number link is pretty strong. I've checked the SWB records (because of the Labour Corps) but found nothing there. There was a 14th Reserve Battalion of the RFR...
