That’s the fella M, but you missed the one thing I was after, when Charles Kuentz died in April 2005, aged 108, he was the last German survivor of the Great War.

Alsatien!!!! There's a difference!!

I know that one... and taking the credit this time... Karl / Charles Kuentz.

Duality due to the fact that he was from the alsace and changed nationalities a couple of times. Fought the First war as German, served the second as Frenchman. His son was a "malgré-nous". and he met Harry Patch in Ypres!

M.

In fact, he was born Alsacien, changed to German after 1871, fought in the German army in WW1. Then became French, and was in the French army for WW2, but became German after 1940. Then French again after 1945! And he lived in the same house all his life.

Seriously,I have seen this lady in my searches, can’t remember whereabouts yet, she’s not British if memory serves me correct.

Unlike me, your memory seems pretty sound then.😊

Had something perfectly suitable named in her honour.

In fact, had 3 x firsts to her credit, and it was a weapon which was named after her.

I have found her again, surprisingly March 21st 2021 she was made part of the constitution.

I will leave it there and let someone else have a shot at naming her.

(surprising what you can do whilst in a hospital waiting area😁)

Ah. Hope all is going well for her.

Interesting what you said about my candidate being made part of the constitution in March. Coincidentally, March would mark the anniversaries of her 3 firsts. Hopefully that might help, in more ways than one, someone identify her.

I thought you might recognise her, as she is a Navy girl, albeit not Royal Navy.

If she's not RN and medical as well there's very little chance, I'm afraid... Was she the first woman in somebody's Navy?

First xxxxx active-duty Navy woman, the first woman to enlist in the xxxxx Navy, and the first woman allowed to serve as a woman in any of the xxxxx armed forces, as anything other than as a nurse. Also the first C.P.O.

I think it's about time I killed this one off.

Loretta Perfectus Walsh. See link below for details. The U.S. Navy named a cannon "Perfectus" in her honour.

Over to you Jim..
