If only our statistician had not withdrawn to his very own Colombey-les-Deux-Églises: he would be the first to note that the number of views on this thread is approaching something of a milestone.

He could be doing everything from trying to bowl a chinaman to riding a bike.  However,  something struck me in the wee small hours - It's not Billy Butlin, is it?

A good suggestion GH; wrong but good. I'd posted a clue before posting the photo.......

Ah, so you did!

I could say, but I can't bear to unveil it so quickly. I don't think I could live with myself.

NF - re your first recent post - I sure will, he's snowed under with work at the moment, and re the second - I see what you did there. Cue sniggering at the back. I'm also impressed with your scrupulous forbearance; I wouldn't recognise a scruple if it bit me in the nether regions.....

Good guess Marilyne, but not 2nd Lt Milne (Royal Warwickshires). You've got the right connection however and are on the right lines - bear with it.

Pete.

P.S. Impressed by your international jet setting, I doubt if many of the close to 200,000 views of this thread have been from the Lone Star state.

BEAR with it???

Got it... I' knew the pic was familiar

it's part of a bigger picture... the guy is feeding a BEAR cub ... called "Winnipeg" ... short Winni that was a mascot for a Canadian unit.

The guy is Captain Harold Colbourne

I knew that would be the case. Sorry given that you are waiting for your luggage case isn't necessarily the right word to use. As Knotty said I hope the bags aren't in Canada....

But you are of course correct with your edit - Harry Colebourn, the well known Canadian vetinarian veteran of WW1 and the man who smuggled the inspiration for A A Milne's bear of very little brain into England. Colebourn was a Brummie born and bred before emigrating to Canada at 18.

Very cool, good to see bear and buddies, but are they looking a bit jet lagged?

Isn’t there a statue to Colebourn & Winnipeg in London Zoo?

Dunno John, if there isn't there should be....

A harsh judgement NF, I for one am very fond of the West Midlands conurbation, at least once I'm through the car park that is the M6/M5 junction......

They are good.

Presenting: Steven "Opa" 's Minion... as grumpy as his master and Baby Marsupilami, apprentice to Thierry's big one, and actually responsible for the good weather.

But let's get back on topic...

Nice to meet the new additions to the marching menagerie. Hopefully I can meet them all in person sometime soon.

Gotcha NF, swapping Birmingham for the wide open spaces of Manitoba, what could he have been thinking?
