Valentine Charles Parnell - he of ‘Val Parnell’s Sunday Night at the London Palladium’. According to this article https://www.atvtoday.co.uk/p3153-val-parnell/ his service in the First war was with the “Queen’s Own 20th regiment”. A regiment unknown to me. The attached MIC (which is free to view on ‘Ancestry’) names the ASC.

Knotty Posted 10 June , 2019 Share Posted 10 June , 2019 (edited) Hi Keith No I did nothing at all, I just read via Facebook that others were having issues, including the last message which was Craig, who commented that he was also having the same issues and that hopefully it would be sorted. I took a flier and tried to log in and low and behold it went in straight away, I thought you guys had sorted things. My favourite film👍 Well, it’s no ‘She Wore a Yellow Ribbon’; but yes, Frank Bourne. According to the attached article, at 23 he was the youngest Colour Sergeant in the British Army. During the First war he served as adjutant of the School of Musketry in Dublin. He died on VE Day. Knotty Posted 18 July , 2019 Share Posted 18 July , 2019 Both of these gentlemen look to be advanced in years, so I will assume they are not connected to the military, so in order I’m going for:- Politicians Scientists Industrialists Social Reformers I nearly put industry before science but it would spell out something not to appropriate. I think there is a big clue in the reference to “ the same battle”

The thing that connects them is medicine, or to be more precise, health.
