Knotty Posted 10 March , 2019 Share Posted 10 March , 2019 She is Tsianina Redfeather Blackstone, born 1882 died 1985. She was a singer and leader with a Native troupe in 1918 entertaining the US troops in France & Germany. General Pershing honoured her by making sure she was the first woman to be allowed to cross the Rhine to entertain the US troops. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsianina_Redfeather_Blackstone

Yes indeed, a striking-looking woman, an activist on the plight of Native Americans, and, reportedly, a “lovely, lovely person”. Knotty Posted 11 March , 2019 Share Posted 11 March , 2019 She has taken some finding but I have come up with Charlotte Edith Anderson Monture, the first native Canadian nurse to serve overseas. Her other notable distinction is that she lived to the remarkable age of 106, passing away in 1996. http://av.canadiana.ca/en/veteran/2309

No, though you did almost second-guess me there, as I very nearly posted her, remarkable as she was. This lady was on the other side.

I think you are flattering me with your perception regarding the boundaries of my imagination. Take a step backwards, to a plucky little country!
