Is this what is called an "allusion"- or have I been watching too many art prorgrammes on BBC4? While Bonar Law, who was teetotal, is standing (See Max Beaverbrook's story of BL's stinginess when dispensing drinks-which turned out to be lime juice) I think we should be told.
