Derbys Posted 16 July , 2014 Share Posted 16 July , 2014 Hello, Visit planned for August to Guillemont in search of Cochrane Alley where GGF Private William Allen was killed 18th Aug 1916 serving with 2nd Batt Suffolk Regt - never found and on Theipval Memorial. I have copy of war diary which is useful but not too specific re 18th Aug, understandably. Any advice in identifying Cochrane Alley - or where wounded may have been taken after action of 18th / 19th Aug 1916 would be very gratefully appreciated. Thanks for reading. Derbys Posted 17 July , 2014 Author Share Posted 17 July , 2014 Thanks Graeme. You're quite correct - I guess I was hoping for some additional advice on Cochrane Alley or any details relating to wounded from that particular action of 18th / 19th August. Thanks again.
