Hi Martin,

Thank You. But it is not very similar

The left bars yellow and light blue could be colours of ASC ?

A blue square could be Nr4 Divisional ASC Coy of the 8th Division ?

David

might the first helmet be 2nd Battalion Cheshire regiment, or the just the Cheshire regiment in general? my Granddads kit bag from ww2 has the same colours.

David,

The helmet with the ' 7 ' insignia may be an American ' Brodie ' helmet, as the American AEF 7th Corps used a white ' 7 ' insignia.

Regards,

LF

I haven't ever seen a US 7th Corps insignia on a diamond-shaped field. All I have ever seen were a 7 inside a white-outlined shield.

It's always been my understanding that the CDT helmets dated to the 1930s.

Something clicked about the 7 in a diamond insignia, and I looked through my books. It's very similar to the scheme used by the 42nd Division as outlined in British Territorial Units 1914-18 by Ray Westlake and Mike Chappell.
