Bob Coulson Posted 21 October , 2004 Share Posted 21 October , 2004 Captain Cope served with the Yorkshire Regiment and then I believe but am not certain was attached to the RFC. He is listed as died September 6th 1918 and buried St Marylebone Cemetery. Would be grateful if any one has any info on him. Bob.
Dolphin Posted 21 October , 2004 Share Posted 21 October , 2004 Bob Capt Walter Gordon Cope, of Hampstead (formerly 3rd Bn, Yorkshire Regiment) of No 14 Training Depot Station at Lake Down, was killed in an accident while flying Avro 504 E1849 on 6 September 1918. Flight Cadet Edward Vaughn James Lydale Caldwell was also killed in the accident. I hope that this is useful. Gareth

Lyndale Posted 23 December , 2017 Share Posted 23 December , 2017 Dear Bob, I've just seen your 2004 post asking for details of Captain Walter Gordon Cope Yorkshire Reg't / RFC / RAF, killed Sept 1918. It was my ancestor, Flt Cadet Edward V. J. Lyndale-Caldwell who was killed with him when their training plane wing was tipped by another student, who got out of formation, sending Cope & Caldwell to the ground. I have quite a bit of information on Cope if you are still interested? Also, what is your connection, because Cope had no brother's and no children, only two sister's survived him. Cheers Lyndale
