Not too sure whether GW or later, but never mind I like them.

I would suspect later than WW1 - typical WW1 examples have the gold braid extending right down to the base of the tabs, eg:

Thanks Andrew,

You are right, I looked at portraits of General Officers up to the present time and they are as you described. In fact I didn't see any that matched mine. Maybe 'Grumpy' will have some thoughts on it.

Any chance of a close up on the buttons? I agree, the leaves are far too short from the edge from either WW1, WW2 or post war(s). Might not be British.

This about as good as I can get it on macro without it becoming blurred, it has a sword & baton surrounded by a wreath,

Continued investigation (on-line) seems to suggest that these are Canadian, probably post war, not definitely determined yet.
