redrob Posted 11 July , 2014 Share Posted 11 July , 2014 I have just started hunting for my grandad's war records. There is a medal card for him but this has two id numbers. It just tells me he was a sapper. Is there anyway I can find out from his id numbers which sapper coy he belonged to. One of the numbers - the first issued to him starts WR. Since he was from Bradford I am assuming that means West Riding - though that in itself doesn't help me much. Can anybody offer any advice. Secondly why did he get two id numbers? His brother, a private in the Dukes, also had two numbers. Why? Thanks
