david west Posted 7 July , 2014 Share Posted 7 July , 2014 I have recently purchased a Victory Medal with the following inscription on the rim : G - 22014 Pte W. Donnelly, The Queens Regt. I was wondering what the experts can find about this unknown hero. Kindest regards to all. David
woollamc Posted 7 July , 2014 Share Posted 7 July , 2014 David Can't find a Medal Index Card but he had a Silver War Badge - Pte William Donnelly G/22014 enlisted 2 May 1916 and discharged from 7th Royal West Surreys on 3 July 1918 when he was 21.2 year's old. Hope this snippet helps. C

Guest voodee1962 Posted 23 September , 2014 Share Posted 23 September , 2014 Hi David. Private W. Donnelly wasn't unknown hero - according to my records 22014 is the Regimental Number of my maternal grandfather, to whom I was very close. His life story is extraordinary by modern day standards - but perhaps not what you would expect. Regards, Paul.
