Hi

I am looking at the end of Lieut Albert Eagger's war service and although an officer in 1/18th London TF, he was serving with 'C' Coy GR&E.

Can any one please identify that unit for me?

Other stamps on his paperwork are.....

DD GR&E St Pol

HQ 'B' Group, CC Branch, DGR&E No;1 Area.

Date around Sept 1920, during his final discharge.

Thank you.

Paul

Hi Paul

That would be C Coy Directorate of Grave Registration and Enquiries. This later became/war replaced by the IWGC. He would have been involved in recovering the fallen and setting up the cemeteries.

Thank you Jay and Glen.

I would never have worked that out.

Most unusual and at the same time interesting.

Before the war he was a press photographer, I wonder if he was used in that role again.

Thank you.
