If there was a list of official trades in the BEF, what would be on it,

Farrier,

Shoeing smith

Cook

what else? was barber a trade ??

There certainly were battalion barbers,

Saddler - Saddle Tree/Collar/Harness Maker

Wheelwright

Farrier

Smith/Armourer

Pioneer

Bandsman

Medical Orderly

Drummer

Piper

Bugler

Trumpeter

Shoe maker

Tailor

Clerk

Artificer

Mechanic

Armourer

Driver

Gunner

Driver and Gunner were ranks, not trades. Drummer, bugler, trumpeter and piper were appointments, and I don't think that they counted as trades either. Barber certainly wasn't a trade.
