I have just picked up the service record of a man I am researching from Kew and have found that he was an AM in the RFC and then the RAF (which I knew) but that for most of his service he was in Egypt - which came as a surprise!

He was AM 83059 Charley Parker (a carpenter by trade) and I was wondering if someone could help in translating the attached section from his record which seem to show where he was based when. Despite a spot of "googling" I have not had much success with translating the various acronyms ARS = Aircraft Repair Section?? TDS?? RD(CSec)?? and the associated numbers and so on

Any help much appreciated

Merve

32 ARS = 32 Wing Aircraft Repair Section

At 6.7.18 moved to Maison Perrier, Ismailia, Egypt and remained there until 15.2.19

RD = Recruits Depot, for disposal

Thanks everyone. This must have come as a bit of a shock for a middle aged carpenter from rural Sussex, just four months after signing up!
